I would consider myself a somewhat newer listener to Dr. Dobson (although, I know my family listened to him when I was younger). I have only been a mama for 5 years. I read the book Bringing Up Boys to prepare for both of my children. I appreciated his wisdom and wit. I will continue to read his works and listen to old broadcasts as I raise my little family in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. Thank the Lord for men like Dr. Dobson. He leaves some huge shoes to fill. I pray my generation will stand up for the family as boldly as he did.

Dr. Dobson was a pillar of strength in my life. I looked forward to the many guests he had on Focus on the Family who made my morning complete and gave me the fortitude to get through every day. Dr. Dobson will always have a special place in my heart. I will always be eternally grateful for all the encouragement I received via his radio program. My most sincere condolences to Shirley and the children. The world is void of a great pillar of the faith, but heaven has gained a great man. Well done, good and faithful servant.

As a young stay-at-home mother, I lived daily to hear God’s wisdom and guidance for raising a family with balanced love and discipline come from the lips of His servant, Dr. James Dobson. I knew nothing about parenting and would not miss an episode. I bought his books and read and reread them. Dr. Dobson gave detailed step-by-step guidance. The most important thing to me was that I would raise my children with a love for the Lord and that they would never leave the faith. That was my “dream come true,” and it happened for me. Each of my children love the Lord, and so do each of my grandchildren. Two of my teenage grandsons were baptized this past Sunday by my son (their dad), who is a pastor. That is Dr. James Dobson’s legacy in my family. Dr. Dobson was strong on balancing love and discipline, and getting them right was necessary. Thank you, Dr. Dobson! You never met me; you never even knew I existed, but your guidance for training our children influenced me along with many others for generations, now and for eternity. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Dr. James Dobson has made a profound impact on our lives. Newly married and becoming parents in the 1980s, we bought most of Dr. Dobson’s books on parenting and listened to his cassette tapes through the different stages of our 4 children’s ages. We are grateful for his faithfulness and showing by example living the Christian life. We shall miss you! Our love and prayers are for Shirley, Danae, and Ryan and his family at this time. We pray that the Lord will comfort you all. Thank you for sharing your husband and father with the whole world. God bless you all. “Well done, good and faithful servant.”

Dr. Dobson, “I know who I am, because I know whose I am.” Dr. Dobson, how do you describe someone who has inspired you and guided so many of your beliefs and instilled values in your life? Someone you never met, but heard his voice for decades as an influencer, mentor, and teacher. If I had to choose one word, it would be “genuine.” In his voice for years, I heard these qualities: Genuine kindness. Genuine concern. Genuine love. Genuine dedication. Genuine faith. Genuine empathy. Genuine commitment. Genuine perseverance to stand for what God called him to do. And he impacted so many by doing it. Such a warrior! So thankful for how he defended the faith. My life was certainly made better because of his teachings, books, interviews, and broadcasts over the years, his vision, his mission, his creations, and the inspirations he received from God and brought forth to life to spread the gospel. Such a gift from God, such a blessing, such a servant – a genuine servant. I’ll forever be grateful for his ministry and his faithfulness. And I will certainly miss his voice, his genuine voice that touched my life forever. Thank you, Dr. Dobson, for all you did to inspire and make my life better. Yvette Medina, Littleton, CO
