Praying that the Lord Jesus Christ will comfort the family, and may his legacy live on. Earth has no sorrow that Heaven cannot heal.

Many of our family’s child-rearing skills were gleaned from Dr. Dobson’s books. His legacy lives on in many ways, and I look forward to meeting him in Heaven.

An FOTF family – that’s what we are! I listened to the radio at 7:30 every single morning to hear Dr. Dobson’s wisdom for marriage and family. His teachings have had a great impact on my family. By God’s grace, I have a family that follows the Lord. Aside from God’s Word, Dr. Dobson was, and still is, my “go-to” for marriage and parenting wisdom. I still give out his books in my therapy practice. Though we are grieving our loss, he is rejoicing with the Lord!

As a young mother, I found “Focus on the Family“ on our local Christian radio and always enjoyed, listened, and tried my best to glean information that could be applied to how we raised our children. I am so VERY grateful for Dr. Dobson’s life and wisdom. I pray for his family‘s continued success with furthering his outreach. May God bless them.

How can one rejoice with tears of sadness? I feel a huge loss hearing of Dr. Dobson’s entrance into heaven, but also a sense of joy, as he is with our Lord and Savior. I raised 7 children by Dr. Dobson on Focus on the Family, by the grace of God. I have the Christmas cards I loved seeing as his family grew up, and I thought of him like a wise father giving me advice. The most important he gave me was this: “Emotions, can you trust them? A loud NO!” Today, I do rejoice that God has received him to His glory on the same day he received my sweet sister 20 years ago. My love to and prayers for all his family, with praise and thanks to God for this godly man’s life!

I am thankful to Dr. Dobson for teaching my family, my mom, and me through radio, etc. I thought of him as my father. I thrived on his teachings in childhood and adulthood. This is a shock. I will miss his education online. I thrived on the magazine that was sent. Thank you, Jesus – and Dr. Dobson. Jer. 29:11

My heart overflows with gratitude for the difference Dr. Dobson made in my family, my life, and my career as an educator. Thank you, Father, for allowing this amazing servant to bless this world with the wisdom You gave him. I will miss you, Dr. Dobson. Thank you. So very, very, very well done!

Dr. James Dobson was an inspiration to my family and me from the ’90s forward. We are grateful for the ministry and clarity in his teaching. Love, focus on the family, family values, commitment, communication, trust, respect, and accountability were some of the qualities we absorbed from the ministry. May God continue to bless many through the ministry.

Heaven has gained – and the world has lost – a truly great man. Dr. Dobson was a huge encouragement to me when my children were growing up. He helped me so much in raising my kids! He understood children so very well – and parents! I listened starting in 1977, and I’ve read all his books. Thank you, Dr. Dobson, for staying the course – to the very end. I love you, Dr. Dobson.

Dr. Dobson was such a great man. He followed what the Lord set out for him to accomplish. I am sure there is huge celebration in heaven at this very moment, that he is now home! Rest in peace, Dr. Dobson. We will remember you always here on earth until all of God’s saints are together with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Linda and Walter Duffy, Beaverton, Oregon

Dr. Dobson was so impactful in my life. I secretly read “Dare to Discipline” in 1976, when I was 14, thinking it might be contraband. It was like listening in on a conversation that should have been had with my father. Coming from a fractured family (my mom passed when I was 7), we were just in survival mode. I know for certain that I avoided the teenage pitfalls that some of my family members fell prey to because of Jesus and one of His helpful servants – Dr. James Dobson. The guidance that I received through his subsequent books about the gospel, family, marriage, and children was inestimable. Thank you, Dr. Dobson, for your faithfulness. You will hear those words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” Bill from New Jersey

Hearing Dr. Dobson was like having a mentor each day helping me navigate life. I am so thankful for his willingness to give of himself and serve the Lord. Prayers for his family.

Dr. Dobson was a light on a hill whose life portrayed Christ at every turn. I could (and still can) always look for wisdom from his books and online guidance. Thank you, Dr. Dobson, for sharing your insights and knowledge of Christ our Savior to help us through this journey of life.

So sorry to hear this news this morning, but I know he is rejoicing in Heaven now. Another great preacher and teacher gone too soon. Praying for family and friends.

Thank you, Dr. Dobson, for the decades of Christian health, growth, and your being one of us, the everyday people in need of God’s love. We’ve met your parents, wife, and children throughout the years. I am working on wearing out the carpet with my knees as I pray for those God has given me. Thank you for your years of ministry. God bless the family with great peace.

When my husband Corey and I were younger and thinking about having children, Dr. Dobson spoke about naming children. He said the meaning of names was important, and shared that he and Shirley had named their first child Danae because it seemed “rhyme- and bully-proof.” This stuck with us for years, and we considered this when naming our daughters. Of course, our older daughter, Noël, got sung to by various kids, but what a wonderful song to sing to someone about their name! Our younger daughter is named Jolie, which means “pretty” in French. Thank you for all your wonderful advice and guidance throughout our/your life! Well done, good and faithful servant!

I just want to thank you, dear brother. You impacted my life. I’m very grateful for you.

I cannot begin to state how impacted I was as a young mother by Dr. Dobson and his teaching. I listened daily to Focus on the radio, read his books, and as a family we traveled to Colorado Springs so the girls could see Adventures in Odyssey. Thank you, Dr. Dobson, for sharing your life and teaching with so many of us. You were a tremendous blessing to me – and my family. Can’t wait to see you in Heaven. God bless Shirley and family.

Julie

I am so thankful that I came across Focus on the Family on the radio and heard Dr. Dobson. I was young and raising my daughter, and it was his wisdom that helped and guided me in raising her from a toddler to adulthood. (I’d had no clue as to what I was doing.) Today I see that the wisdom he shared helped shape my life as well as my daughter’s. I am forever grateful for him!
